Caramel Popcorn Candy Recipe

This delicious caramel pop corn candy recipe is a family favorite for many reasons.  It's well suited for holidays, special occasions, movie nights, and family gatherings. The kids will eat this stuff like crazy. If you have young children they'll prefer caramel flavored popcorn over just plain regular popcorn.

This is one of those special recipes that I get excite about preparing.

Sometimes of Friday night when we have the sweet tooth we will prepare this recipe and then enjoy a movie on our big screen television.

Best of all I prefer to make homemade caramel flavored popcorn like this at home myself rather than spend big bucks to buy this stuff by the pound at my local candy store.

I've even been known to sneak some of this homemade popcorn into my local movie theater. But please, don't tell them I said so.

Caramel Pop Corn Recipe

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 quarters popped popcorn
  • 1 cup roasted or salted nuts

Recipe Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

1.  In a large mixing bowl, mix together butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.  Next add cooked popcorn and nuts, and stir well to coat your popcorn.

2.  Place coated popcorn on un-greased cook sheet and bake on center oven rack at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.  Allow popcorn to cool before serving.

What should you do in case of the outside chance you have some leftover popcorn?  You can store any leftover popcorn in a plastic tupperware like container for a few days in the refrigerator.  My family likes to mix this caramel popcorn treat with butter flavored popcorn for a unique delicious flavor.  Give the caramel and buttered popcorn mix a try and see for yourself.
