Old Fashioned Butter Rolls Recipe
I've had this recipe stored away in my electronic recipe book for quite some time. It's origin is unknown to me, but it's tried and true!
It's a favorite amongst my family all throughout the year.
1 can biscuits (any kind but Big Country or Hungry Jack will make larger rolls) (The rolls may be made from any biscuit dough recipe.)
1-1/2 sticks butter (cubed,(1/4" x 1/4" preferred)
Sugar and nutmeg
Topping:
2 cups milk
3/4 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Roll out biscuits as thin as possible on lightly floured surface.
Evenly place butter on biscuit and sprinkle with sugar and a little nutmeg (buttervmay be chipped or spread onto biscuits). Roll up like jelly roll.
Place rolls into a buttered casserole dish.
Mix topping ingredients together. Pour over rolls. Bake at 350 degrees until brown. Serve warm.
