Goulash Recipe

by Carol Yost
(Las Vegas)

This is my family version of a goulash recipe:

1 pound elbow macaroni
2 pound ground round (ground turkey may be used)
1 large onion diced
1/2 small green pepper diced
2-3 tablespoons minced garlic (more or less to taste)
salt and pepper to taste
2 large cans of diced or stewed tomatoes in tomato juice

1. Brown ground meat with the onion, pepper and garlic.
2. Add canned tomatoes w/ juice (If you add extra tomato juice it makes it more juicy and improve the flavor )
3. Let simmer for about 1-2 hrs
4. Cook Macaroni

Here is the part that makes a big difference.

For 1 serving. Fill up a bowl half-way with the Macaroni, then put a layer of mozzarella shredded cheese Then fill the rest of the way up with the meat and sauce mixture . Let it sit for a minute for the cheese to melt. ENJOY!!

Carol, I added kidney beans and used cheddar cheese with your recipe as the base. The beans gave it a little extra that I enjoy.

Awesome and easy recipe
by: Goulash recipe

THe Goulash recipe by Carol Yost was excellent! My first time making goulash this way and my family loved it, thank you! I did do one thing differently, I used two regular cans of stewed tomatoes instead of the large and one was basil, garlic and oregano in it. I also put them in the turbo bullet for a few seconds because my husband does not like tomatoes but it turned out wonderful to everyones liking!

Carol

Your recipe reminds me of many, many years past when my mother made a similar goulash recipe.

I look forward to trying out this hearty and wholesome recipe this winter.

Really Good!
by: Tammy

I just tried this recipe last night and it was wonderful! I am not sure if I used the correct size can of tomatoes, so next time I will use the largest I can get. I used 14 oz. cans and I would have liked it a little saucier. I will definately use this again and again!!
Thanks for sharing!!!!
