By buying from local farmer's markets,you pay more for the single item but if you talk to the owner's they will usually set aside a gross set of items for you to pick up. And in most situations they will usually only charge you slightly more than what they pay for it themselves. Freeze anything that can spoil, dry out herbs and spices and store in a dry place.
