Corn Meal Biscuits Recipe

This recipe makes 12 biscuits.

1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk

Directions:

Sift flow, baking powder, and salt into medium mixing bowl. Blend in cornmeal, shortening and then add milk.

Stir mixture lightly with fork -- just enough to moisten all the flour.

Knead, biscuit dough gently -- about a 1/2 minute on a lightly floured board. Once kneaded roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness.

Make biscuits by cutting dough with a 2 inch cutter. Place cut biscuit dough on a lightly greased baking pan or cookie sheet.

Bake cornmeal biscuits at 450 degree Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes.
