Chocolate Syrup Brownies

by Elizabeth Woodsides
(DuQuoin, IL)

1/2 c butter or margarine
1 c granulated sugar
4 eggs
1- 16oz bottle chocolate syrup
1 1/4 c all-purpose flour
* 1/2 c chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Icing:
1 stick butter or margarine
2 c powdered sugar
2 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease 13x9x2 pan. Mix all 5 ingredients until well blended.

Fold in 1/2 c chopped nuts, if desired. Spread batter in pan and bake for 30-35 min. Cool and frost.

In small pan over medium heat, melt butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, salt, and milk. Stir. Remove from stove, add powdered sugar and blend well.

Spread over brownies...

Hint- I've made these enough that I don't let the brownies cool completely and frost while they are still a little warm. I think they taste better this way and icing is nice and smooth.

Can serve topped with ice cream and chocolate syrup....ENJOY!! They won't last long....
