My husband made a batch of chili, it is way too hot and spicy and would like to know how to salvage it.

What to do when chili is too hot or spicy

Thanks for asking the question. You have a number of options that can be used to tone down too spicy or hot chili.

First, you could cook more chili without spicy and mix the two together for a mild taste.

You could peel some large potatoes, 2 or 3 and add them to the chili for 1/2 to 1 hour. If the taste is right, remove the potatoes and serve. The potatoes will absorb the spice.

Or you could crumble up cooked cornbread or crackers into the chili to take the spicy taste way.

So what do you think?

Try the potatoes and let me know how things turn out.
