Change your eating habits and exercise

Diets DO NOT work!!! Rather than telling others you're dieting, instead inform them that you're changing your way of eating. Portion sizes are important too as well as fat content. Keep in mind also of what time of evening you're consuming food. However, you must stay mindful of movement (aka exercise) to burn more calories than you take in your body.
